In India, UDUPI is synonymous with southern Indian style vegetarian cooking. There are several hundred restaurants, cafes and similar establishments with varying degrees of ambiance called UDUPI. Some of these have blossomed into large hotel establishments while others continue as modest eateries.
Udupi Palace has roots in Udupi,
a town in Karnataka, famous for many food
vendors and aromas that are filled in the air. The typical
southern Indian food is made with rice and lentils, and sometimes
wheat. When mashed and ground together with spices and herbs
and cooked on a giant sized griddle, dozens of different types
of dosai can be made!
To ensure the same high quality of food that UDUPI is
famous for, we have sent for their chefs and used specially
imported cooking equipments. Every single dish here is prepared
with authentic Indian herbs and spices.
India is a vast country with many different states. Southern India consists of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh. Each state has its own rich culture and traditions in India, which is what makes India so diverse. The culture and traditions are depicted in century old temples all over the region.
